They say “ healthy spine, healthy life” for good reasons: the spine supports our entire body structure and allows for a good flow of the force of gravity and vital energy.
The Body Wheel Therapy® sequences are designed to increase the flexibility of the spine and the strength of the surrounding muscles.
They create great openness in the shoulders, chest, hips, back and neck, which are the most common areas of chronic tightness and discomfort. They also help to strengthen your core therefore improving your posture and overall health. This is achieved through a series of dynamic and isometric movements with the aid of the wheel.
Some yin inspired postures are held for longer periods of time (2-5 minutes), allowing for greater openness through a deep yet safe stretch of your connective tissue (fascia, joints, ligaments). These can be alternated with more dynamic postures, performed using the wheel as an aid or prop, helping to strengthen the muscles and increase your heart rate for great cardio vascular benefits.
The sequences are all ended with a breathing exercise and a guided meditation: this combination will generate a great release of toxins and stress from the body, allowing students to completely relax and absorb all the benefits.
- "I’ve been going to the chiropractor twice a week for 5 years because my neck has been hurting me for many, many years. After just ONE Body Wheel Therapy® class I can turn my neck no problem. I can see my own back. Before I could barely move it!”Derlina, TX
- “I love how the wheel allows for a gradual opening of the spine, little by little. It takes the stress and tension that you hold in there and opens it up gradually as you work through the different sections of the spine so you trust that you're not gonna create even more tension.”Susanne, USA
- “After hiking for 6 months with a 30-35 lbs back pack on, I had a lot of tension on my back and shoulders…I had used the wheel before to roll on but I didn't realize how it can be used to open up and release tension in the shoulders. It was very therapeutic.”Stacy, USA
- “I had never tried the wheel before attending a yoga retreat in Sicily in July, 2019. I am an avid foam roller so I was curious how the wheel would be different. I immediately felt comfortable on the wheel and was able to relax and let the tension immediately fall from my tight shoulders and upper back. I am excited to learn more about the wheel, learns ways to really stretch my tight back and body, and also strengthen my fitness practice.”Angela, Italy
